At Waratah, we teach literacy through a variety of formats – some students work through Little Learners Love Literacy, other students participate in Shared Reading.
Waratah Special Developmental School - Using student interests
At Waratah, we understand that students learn best when they are interested and motivated in their programs. We actively teach expected behaviours using the PBS framework.
Waratah Special Developmental School - Structured Programs
Students work through set tasks with their teacher, pitched at a level that scaffolds their learning.
Work Experience
Our Senior students get involved in Work Experience programs, both on the school site and in external work places, depending on their interests and needs.
Swimming
Our Early Years and Middle Years students participate in swimming programs with our PE teacher.
Art
Our Visual Arts program encourages students to explore their creativity, while learning to express their likes and dislikes.
Communication
Communication plays a strong part in all of our programs. Students take their communication devices to different programs throughout the school.
Camps
Some of our older students have the opportunity to attend camp, where they are supported to take on new challenges.
